Taming of the Shrew (2005)
Outside of middle
school productions, Scott had never performed in any non-musical shows. 2005
marked a brave new step for Scott. Not only did he jump into a straight play,
but he skipped straight from musical theatre to Shakespeare. Scott was cast in
Runway (Grapevine) Theatre's Taming of the Shrew. After a grueling
audition process (that included singing a cappella and playing patty cake),
Scott was cast as the 3rd Huntsman in the rarely performed induction of the
play, as well as Nathaniel - Servant to Petruchio later in the show. The
Huntsman role (seen below in cowboy apparel) was instrumental in setting up the
premise of the show - a play to be performed for a drunken stranger who is
convinced that he is, in fact, a mighty lord. Nathaniel could be described as
window dressing - or as I prefer - guy in back who walks around aimlessly in the
second act. While Scott intends to move back into the musical genre in the very
near future, his time spent on the stage with a wonderful cast in a 400-year old
play was very rewarding. He sends his thanks to the cast and crew for accepting
him into the straight-play fold so graciously!

| Window-Dressing occasionally takes time out back stage to take a self portrait. This moment, so luckily captured on film, is one of those moments. | ![]() |

Huntsman
Number 3 (who I'll henceforth refer to as Buck) poses for a quick post-show photo on stage. As you should have figured out by now, this production of Shakespeare's classic, was re-set in the old west. |
| Buck
asks Sly (the drunkard played by Brock Klein): "Will it please your lord to wash your hands? Oh how we joy to see your wit restored! Oh that once more you knew but what you are!" |
